Belmont Capital Partners funds any business that does at least $20,000 a month in revenue, has six months of history and banks in the United States. This article spells out what each requirement means and how we measure it.
Requirement one: $20,000 in monthly revenue
Measured as the average of total business deposits over the last three months, excluding loan proceeds and owner contributions. A business that did $14,000, $22,000 and $26,000 averages $20,667 and qualifies. Revenue from card processors, ACH, checks, wires, marketplace payouts and cash deposits all counts.
Requirement two: six months in business
Counted from the first revenue deposit, not from incorporation. A company formed in 2019 that started operating in May qualifies in November.
Requirement three: a U.S. business bank account
Revenue must flow through a business checking account in the company's name. Personal accounts used for business, even with strong deposits, do not qualify; open a business account and re-apply after three statements.
What is not required
- A minimum credit score
- Collateral or a lien on equipment
- Tax returns, profit-and-loss statements or a business plan
- A specific industry
- A visit to an office
Why $20,000
Revenue-based repayment at about 5% of sales has to be meaningful to the lender and painless to the business. Below $20,000 a month, the advance would be too small to matter or the remittance too large to carry comfortably. At $20,000 and above, the structure works for both sides.
If you are just under the line
Apply anyway if your most recent month crossed $20,000; trend counts. Otherwise, focus on moving all business revenue into one account, which often reveals deposits that were being split across personal accounts or a second bank.
